CD Title The Firth Noel

On February 13, 2004 my beloved parents, Dan & Pat Firth, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
For a year or so prior to that, my four brothers, Bob, Jim, Steve and Pete and
two sisters, Lauree and Katie developed a plan to record a Christmas CD to present
to our parents as their anniversary gift. In the summer of 2006, all the sibs traveled
to Santa Barbara, CA and spent a week recording "The Firth Noel". This is an outstanding
collection of traditional Christmas carols and a couple of originals. A couple of the
traditional songs (Sleigh Ride & Twelve Days of Christmas) were personalized to reflect
Firth Family experiences but are hilariously relate-able. This is a well produced, professional
quality Christmas album that I feel would enrich the Season in anyone's home.

The Firths Are In The House
We’re not the beat box, or Run DMC, we’re just some white kids rappin’ for ya all to see.
We went to sunny C-A to record a song or two for the folks back home, now hear what we can do.
We got Jim on the boards, makes it all sound right, Brother Dave sings and smiles,
says “that sounds so TIGHT!”
The Firths Are In The House!
The Firths Are In the House!
Kate and Lauree sing high, oh they sound so fine,
like angels from heaven and the stars they shine.
Brother Bob sings low sweet soul, and so smooth
and when we’re feelin’ down he’ll tell a joke or two.
The Firths Are In The House!
The Firths Are In the House!
And now for Steve, don’t ask me why,
the poor boy was born with a lazy eye.
But that’s okay, he didn’t have a choice;
at least it didn’t affect his voice.
The Firths Are In The House!
The Firths Are In the House!
And that leaves me, boy 5 - PJ.
I’m standin’ here cuz I got something to say.
While I don’t know much ‘bout Solvang or Buellton, at
least I got to see my ol’ buddy Warren.
The Firths Are In The House!
The Firths Are In the House!
You might be wondrin’ why this rap is here on an album of songs about joy and cheer.
We just needed a change, somethin’ hip and new to say, “Happy Golden Anniversary to You!”
The Firths Are In The House!

White Christmas
by Irving Berlin
(I'm dreamin', I dreamin', I dreamin'...)
(I'm dreamin', I dreamin', I dreamin'...)
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white.
(I'm dreamin', I dreamin', I dreamin'...)
(I'm dreamin', I dreamin', I dreamin'...)
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white.
(I'm dreamin', I dreamin', I dreamin'...)(Repeat)

Welcome To Our World
by Chris Rice
Tears are falling, hearts are breaking,
how we need to hear from God.
You’ve been promised, we’ve been waiting;
welcome Holy Child, welcome Holy Child.
Hope that you don’t mind our manger.
How I wish we would have known.
But, long awaited Holy Stranger make yourself at home.
Please, make yourself at home.
Bring your peace into our violence,
bid our hungry souls be fed.
Word now breaking heaven’s silence.
Welcome to our world.
Welcome to our world.
Fragile fingers sent to heal us,
tender brow prepared for thorns,
tiny heart whose blood will save us
unto us is born, unto us is born.
So wrap our injured flesh around you,
Breathe our air and walk our sod,
rob our sin and make us holy
Perfect Son of God
Perfect Son of God.
Welcome to our World.

Mary Did You Know
by Mark Lowry & Buddy Greene
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughter?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you’ve kissed the face of God?
Oh Mary, did you know?
The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak the praises of the Lamb.
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
The sleeping child you’re holding is the Great I Am.

Night Of Silence/ Silent Night
by Daniel Kantor
Cold are the people, winter of life we tremble in shadows
This cold winter’s night. Frozen in the snow, lie roses, sleeping.
Flowers that will echo the sunrise. Fire of hope is our only warmth.
Weary it’s flame will be dying soon.
Voice in the distance, call in the night
On wind you enfold us you speak of the light.
Gentle on the ear, you whisper, softly;
Rumors of a dawn so embracing.
Breathless love awaits darkened Souls,
Soon will we know of the morning.
Spirit among us, shine like the star,
Your light that guides shepherds and kings from afar.
Shimmer in the sky so empty, lonely, rising
In the warmth of your Son’s love.
Star unknowing of night and day
Spirit we wait for you loving Son.
Silent night, holy night all is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin, mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild.
Holy infant so tender and mild.

Sleigh Ride
[In this song there is conversation before and after the song that depicts typical
Firth confusion. For the most part you’ll just have to pick out bits and pieces of
the conversation. You will find you hear more each time. During the second
chorus, we decided to put in a little of our own personalities and so, one at a
time, we each stepped up to the mic to do our ‘own thing’. It is all recognizable
English except the first line; that phrase is Lauree, scratching her throat. It is a
rather unfortunate trademark of hers. The fact that we crash at the end of the
song is just more ‘warped’ Firth humor.]
Just hear those sleigh bells jingle-ing
Ring ting tingle-ing too.
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you.
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling "You Hoo".
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you.
Giddy-yap giddy-yap giddy-yap let's go
Let's look at the snow
We're riding in a wonderland of snow.
Giddy-yap giddy-yap giddy-yap it's grand
Just holding your hand.
We're gliding along with the song of a wintry fairy land.
Our cheeks are nice and rosy and comfy cozy are we
We're snuggled up together like two birds of a feather would be
Let's take the road before us and sing a chorus or two
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you.

Gabriel's Message
The Angel Gabriel from heaven came
His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame;
"All hail" said he thou lowly Maiden Mary
Most highly favour’d lady, Gloria!
For known a blessed mother thou shalt be
All generations laud and honor thee
Thy son shall be Emmanuel by seers foretold
Most highly favour’d lady, Gloria!
Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head
"To me, be as it pleaseth God" she said
"My soul shall laud and magnify His holy Name"
Most highly favour’d lady, Gloria!
Of her Emmanuel the Christ was born
In Bethlehem all on a Christmas morn,
And Christian folk through out the world will ever say,
Most highly favour’d lady, Gloria!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
by Blane Martin
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.
Here were are as in olden days,
happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
gather near to us once more.
Through the years we all will be together
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Noble's Song
by Jim Firth
Who is this Newborn King?
Humble in nature,
lying in a manger.
No royal robe or stature has he.
Who, but a servant,
would be so made low?
Yet, here is a King who is so.
What a wondrous work this is:
this one who is lowly,
is one full of glory.
His is a kingdom of righteousness
and truth.
He’s crowned with humility, His scepter is of love
No other is above or
shall ever be
above Him.
(Re)
Praise be to God,
for a Child is born.
He’s the hope of every heart,
the joy of every soul. Praise be
to God.
All my praise I humbly give,
knowing that surely of much
more He’s worthy.
For what He gives is most valuable of all.
What can compare to the gift of life he brings?
Give glory to the King, God’s everlasting King.

What Child Is This
What Child is this who, laid to rest
on Mary's lap is sleeping...
whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
while shepherds watch are keeping?
Why lies He in such mean estate,
where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
whe silent Word is pleading.
This, this is Christ the King,
whom shepherds guard and Angels sing.
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
the Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh.
Come peasant, king to own Him.
The King of kings salvation brings,
let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King,
whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
the Babe, the Son of Mary.
Raise, raise a song on high,
the virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
the Babe, the Son of Mary.

O Come All Ye Faithful/ Go Tell It On The Mountains
Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.
O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant.
O come, ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels.
Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.
Sing, choirs of angels. Sing in exultation.
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above.
Glory to God. Glory in the highest.
Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.
Go tell it on the mountains, over the hills
and everywhere. Go tell it on the mountains
that Jesus Christ is born.
Go tell it on the mountains, over the hills
and everywhere. Go tell it on the mountains
that Jesus Christ is born.
Go tell it on the mountains...
Angels are singin' while God is bringin' the Word
has come to earth.
Go tell it...tell it on the mountains.
Stars are shinin' means no more dyin' let's
praise the Savior's birth.
Tell it, tell it...tell it on the mountains.
Wise men from afar, followin' a star bring
gifts for this new king.
Tell it on the mountain top. I will tell it on the mountain
top...
Everything with a voice, you have no choice
but raise your voice and sing...
Tell it from the the mountain ...
Come let us adore Him. Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him. Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him.Come let us adore Him.
Come let us adore Him...A-DORE HIM!
